Phone Surcharges:

• Property tax surcharge
• Activation fee
• Penalty to end contract early

Car Rental:
• Insurance
• Excise taxes

Airline:
• Paper ticket fee
• Talking to a person fee
• Changing your flight fee
• Reserving an aisle seat fee
• Overpacking fee

Hotels:
• Internet connection fee
• Resort fee
• Automatic gratuities fee
• Package delivery acceptance fee
• Mini-bar restocking fee

Stores:
• Gift-card activation fee

Investments:
• Excessive annual fees
• Transfer fees
• Variable annuity expenses
• Annual expenses

Wow, what an interesting (and long!) list there. Some of these fees are just plain hilarous (unless, of course, you're the one paying for them.) These companies really know how to sock it to their customers. I especially see this with my credit cards; the fine print seems to be getting smaller and lengthier every year.
