I am afraid to be listed in the chexsystems because of an overdraft can I use the help of the credit union

You can try the help of credit union but do not expect for too much.
Mostly they can cover your overdraft up to 1K $, they have no contract obligation to cover your debt even if you had been covered in the past.
In order to get help from the credit union you must prove that you are older than 18, that your account is opened at least for 3 months, that every month there is a deposit of more than 400$ and the account is balanced positively once every month or least.
