Default Overdraft Fees Increase

According to the Center for Responsible Lending, banks are now charging an average of $34 for overdrafting your account.

This is bad news for consumers, but the banks love it. And to make it easier for you to overdraft, banks give you many ways to do it: debit card, ATM, electronic payments and paper checks.

Man people suggest using overdraft protection. This way, if you overdraft from your checking account, theres a backup account to cover the difference. A backup account can be a savings account or a credit card. You'll still incur a penalty for this service, but the fee is usually lower, between $10 to $15.
