Default Keeping Up With The Johnson Family

I keep seeing so many of my friends, neighbors, and extended family get into these huge debt crises. Why? Because they spend money to either feel better or to makes themselves appear well-off to others. It's funny how some of these people claim that they deserve to max out their credit cards because they work hard all week, but then they stress out when the bill comes and they barely afford to pay the minimum.

I can understand why people want to spend, spend, spend. It's fun to get new things and spluge on yourself. But people really need to figure out why they want to overspend. What's the attraction? Then they need to figure out a replacement. (I guess it'd be like a binge eater learning to find comfort in non-food activities.)

Anyone with tips on how people can break the cycle of overspending?
